Care & storage tips

Basic Care and Storage Tips for Jewelry

  • The necklace is made from a fine, delicate chain. Please do not pull the chain forcefully.

  • Do not wear jewelry while showering, in a sauna, swimming, playing sports, or sleeping.

  • After wearing jewelry, gently wipe away sweat and dirt with a soft cloth.

  • Minimize exposure to air (e.g., store in a plastic zip bag) when not in use to keep your jewelry looking new.

Silver Jewelry

Silver can tarnish when exposed to sulfur-containing elements such as wool, felt, certain foods (like onions, eggs, and mayonnaise), fossil fuels, rubber bands, latex gloves, carpet padding, certain paints, and cosmetics. Tarnish can be accelerated in a humid environment. Salts, sweat, body oils, and natural elements (like ocean air) are also corrosive and can damage silver. Leaving silver jewelry uncleaned can cause tarnish and breakage. If your jewelry gets dirty, gently wash it by hand with water and dish detergent, then quickly wipe away the water. If dirt becomes noticeable, wash it softly by hand with baking soda and a few drops of water. This removes dirt and neutralizes silver sulfide. After cleaning, rinse off the baking soda and dry the jewelry completely.

Gold-Plated Jewelry

Gold-plated jewelry can be tarnished by sweat, body oils, perfume, and cosmetics. Keep the jewelry away from these substances. Do not polish gold-plated jewelry, as polishing can wear away the plating. If the jewelry gets dirty, gently wash it by hand with water and dish detergent, then quickly wipe away the water.

Glass Pearls on a Silk Cord Necklace

The pearls are glass pearls with a pearl coating on a crystal glass core.
Avoid wearing other necklaces or clothing with hard accessories, such as those made of metal, as the surface of the pearls may get scratched.
Keep pearls away from laundry starch containing PVA, alcohol-based perfumes and hair sprays, and other chemicals. These can contaminate the pearl surface and cause the coating to peel off.
After wearing, gently wipe off sweat and dirt with a soft, dry cloth and store in a place away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, and high humidity.
Since the silk cord is very absorbent and can take in sweat and body fluids, clean it by hand with water and soap when it gets dirty. Be careful not to get the pearl beads wet. Dry the silk using a towel or a very soft cloth immediately after washing.

Freshwater Pearl Necklace

Freshwater pearls are organic gemstones. Keep them away from acidic, alkaline, and extremely humid environments. To preserve your pearls' radiance, avoid contact with cosmetics, hair spray, or perfume. Always put on your jewelry as a final touch after applying makeup and styling hair. After wearing pearl jewelry, gently wipe away sweat and dirt with a soft cloth. Use a chamois, either dry or damp, to wipe the pearls. Never use an ultrasonic cleaner, as it can damage the pearls.
